I extend a warm welcome to each one of you on this beautiful morning as we gather here to celebrate and officially welcome a new batch of enthusiastic learners into our department.
As I reflect on life, I’m reminded of a game, much like the ones we play on our phones. Just as these games are divided into levels, each stage of life presents us with unique challenges. Overcoming these challenges makes us more seasoned, more prepared for what lies ahead. Today, we’re here to honor the newest members of our department who have successfully cleared their previous milestones and are now ready to embark on this new journey.
Before we begin the day’s events, may I request everyone to please stand for .
As life unfolds, every experience offers us lessons essential for moving forward. Dear juniors, about a month ago, you embarked on a new journey with this department—a journey that holds promise for your future growth and ours as well.
Now, to formally inaugurate this gathering, I would like to invite to extend a warm welcome to the batch of .
In a commencement address to Stanford University’s 2005 graduating class, Steve Jobs shared a valuable lesson. He said:
“You can’t connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backward. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something—your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. This approach has never let me down, and it has made all the difference in my life.”
Inspired by his words, I would now like to invite to share some of their own experiences and offer motivation to the incoming class.

There’s an old proverb: “When in Rome, do as the Romans do.” But to adapt, one must first understand their surroundings. So, dear new members, we have prepared a short film, thanks to , to introduce you to our department’s culture and legacy.
As the saying goes, “All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.” We’ve arranged a few games to keep the spirit lively, which will be coordinated by .
After that captivating dance performance, it seems our senior students are feeling a bit competitive. They’re ready for a challenge! will take the stage to meet this challenge.

In our department, we have a few senior PhD scholars—mentors who can guide you in your academic journey. I would now like to invite some of these seniors to join us on stage to welcome and inspire our new members.
